Alaqua Florida

Alaqua was early county seat of Walton County and home to Henry Marie Brackenridge, the first Judge of West Florida. Brackenridge built a home and held court in Alaqua. Many first and early leaders of Walton County lived and had land grants in Alaqua. It was also my dad's family home. One of the first land grants in Walton County was in Alaqua, Hardy Wood, 1828. Catherine McLennon had a land grant that year in Big Branch. Others had land grants in 1829. Alaqua was before Eucheeanna and is depicted on many early maps. Territorial Papers record event.
